Department-Led Shadowing Program

The shadowing request form must be completed by the Prisma Health team member (employee) who will host the observer or their Prisma Health designee. Resident physicians may work with students but they cannot serve as the primary host. Students landing on this page should regularly check our Academic Programs site for existing and newly announced opportunities.

This form is not for students enrolled in the MD program at USC School of Medicine. If you would like to host a medical student for an experience, please contact the appropriate School of Medicine Student Affairs.

Students must be at least 18 years of age to observe in an Upstate Emergency Medicine Department.

Prior to the student’s scheduled experience, they must obtain their Prisma Health Photo ID Badge. In order to obtain a Prisma Health Badge, students must first complete the Prisma Health Student Affairs clearance process. Please consider students may need up to 6 weeks to complete the clearance process. We ask that you consider scheduling the students start date a minimum of 4-6 weeks from today’s date. Shadowing Program

We’re looking to structure a pathway in which pre-health students may request observation experiences. In order to create a pathway, we need to announce opportunities to which students can directly apply. Your name and contact information would not be shared with students unless you choose to follow up on a student’s application. You would only receive emailed applications of students if and when they apply directly to your shadowing opportunity.
