Preferred degree program:
- Students currently enrolled in: Bachelor’s degree program
- With a concentration or focus in: Junior or Senior students currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program with a major or minor in Physics with the intent of pursuing a graduate degree in the field of medical physics
Description of internship position:
Student will have the opportunity to apply physics concepts, theories and methods in healthcare setting.
Student will acquire basic understanding of the role of medical physics within the overall treatment protocol in a hospital.
Learning outcomes:
Intern will acquire understanding of teamwork attributes within the department and communication needs working between medical physicist and the rest of the radiation oncology department. Student will acquire an understanding of equipment use in medical radiation. Student will gain greater knowledge of advanced degree requirements and the career path of a medical physicist.
