Description of internship position:

A high school internship in radiation oncology and medical physics offers students a unique opportunity to explore the intersection of physics, medicine, and technology. Through shadowing medical physicists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists, and other clinical team members, students gain firsthand insight into how physics principles are applied to treat cancer.

Learning outcomes:

This experience provides early exposure to a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, helping students envision potential career paths in science and medicine. The goal is to inspire curiosity, foster mentorship, and encourage students to pursue a physics-focused education in college and beyond. Interns will observe real-world problem solving, patient-centered care, and the collaborative nature of cancer treatment teams. Ultimately, this internship aims to spark a lasting interest in the field and highlight the impactful role physics can play in improving lives.
