Description of internship position:

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Internship Program is a structured experiential learning opportunity designed to expose undergraduate or graduate students to multidisciplinary care delivery, and operational leadership within a specialized pediatric service line.

Interns will gain hands-on exposure to clinical operations, care coordination, quality improvement, and community engagement while supporting strategic initiatives that improve outcomes for children and adolescents with complex hematologic conditions.

The program aims to:

· Develop future leaders in pediatric healthcare and health equity
· Support service line operational priorities
· Strengthen workforce pipeline for specialized hematology programs

Learning outcomes:

· Extract and organize basic operational and programmatic data (under supervision).
· Interpret key performance metrics such as visit volume, no-show rates, infusion utilization, payer mix, and quality indicators.
· Develop a basic dashboard using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tool.
· Conduct workflow observation and process mapping within pediatric specialty clinics.
· Identify operational gaps affecting access, care coordination, or patient experience.
