Description of internship position:
This position is an externship in conjunction with the University of South Carolina Department of Psychology and The USC Psychology Services Center. The externship is a yearly position where the extern will observe and participate in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) appointments on Mondays from August 2026-August -2027. This is a yearly externship as students express interest. Supervision of student activities is live with attending in the room at all times.
Learning outcomes:
The goals of the extern is to gain clinical experience with preschool patient populations and their families and gain training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy skills. The corresponding USC course for the externship with the attending at Prisma is PSY 765 – Externship in School Psychology (third year doctoral school psychology practicum student) OR PSYC 829 – Community Psychology Practicum I (third year clinical community psychology practicum students).
